Deferment
You are entitled to defer your student loan payments when applicable criteria are met.
Through deferment you can postpone your scheduled student loan payments for various reasons,
such as unemployment, economic hardship, and school enrollment.
Your lender or servicer determines if you meet the requirements for a deferment.

Military deferment
Eligibility for this deferment is based on the disbursement date of your first loan.
To be eligible for this deferment, the first disbursement must be on or after 07/01/2001
Use this form to request a deferment while you are:
- On active duty during a war or other military operation or national emergency
- Performing qualifying National Guard duty during a war or other military operation or national emergency
